Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Umar Gambo Jibrin, has appealed to contractors in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to be patriotic and avoid the practice of abandoning project sites at the slightest excuse. 

The Executive Secretary made the call during one of his site visits. He further stated that he is always willing and ready to partner with any serious-minded contractor to solve any obstacles inhibiting the prompt execution of projects in the Territory. Engr. Jibrin promised that he and his management team will make more regular visits to project sites to enable them assess the quality of works and ensure prompt resolution of bottlenecks impeding smooth and speedy implementation of ongoing contracts.

The Executive Secretary, who was accompanied by members of the Executive Management Committee (EMC) comprising of Directors and Unit Heads of FCDA, visited Dawaki District where he inspected ongoing works at the Tank 1 of the 10 water storage tanks expected to distribute water throughout the city, when completed. The visit, according to the Executive Secretary, was to enable him and his team observe first-hand the activities of developers around the perimeter of the tank.

In a similar development, Engr. Jibrin also inspected ongoing provision of engineering infrastructure to Ngwa Street, off Funmilayo Ransome Kuti Street, Area 3, Garki, where he commended the contractor, M/S Gas Contracting Co. Ltd. for the quality of work being done. Engr. Jibrin and his team later moved to Fisherman Village located at Jabi Lake Resort and dam where he was taken round the embankment by FCDA officials on ground. The Executive Secretary then directed that a comprehensive report on all illegal activities such as farming and others threatening the dam should be submitted to his office for immediate attention.

The Executive Secretary, whose team included the Directors of Engineering Services and that of Engineering Design and Evaluation, Engr. Shehu Hadi Ahmad and Engr. Mohammed Bashir Idris respectively, among others, was also at the headquarters of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Jabi to inspect the ongoing construction of access road to the area
