The sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello for his efforts in giving the FCT a befitting status as the capital of Nigeria.

The Sultan gave this commendation when he led a delegation of traditional and religious leaders from the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) on a courtesy visit to the FCTA.

He said that the visit was to show support of the Council to the FCT Minister, in his work towards ensuring the growth and development of the Territory.  

The Sultan also called on the FCT Minister to spread development of the Territory to the Satellite towns and Area Councils. This, he said will decongest the city center.

He also urged the staff of the FCTA to give 100% loyalty to the Administration so it can achieve its objective of building for Nigeria a world class capital city.

Speaking on the unity of Nigeria, the Sultan described Nigeria as a great country and said that the Almighty Allah did not make a mistake “by bringing all of us together in this country”. He admonished Nigerians to work at “strengthening interfaith relations amongst one another adding that the Council has been doing that and will continue to do more.

In his response, the FCT Minister Malam Muhammad Musa Bello thanked the Sultan for his good works in terms of bring cooperation and understanding amongst the major religious groups in Nigeria.

He continued, “Your stabilizing influence is something that is well known and has been a very important factor that has led to religious harmony in this country”.

The Minister prayed that the Almighty Allah will continue to guide and give the Sultan the strength to continue to do the good work he has been doing for the Ummah and the nation at large while assuring his guests that he will honour the confidence reposed in him as Minister of the FCT.

Members of the delegation included  the Emir of Bauchi, Emir of Lafia, Emir of Keffi, the Otaru of Auchi, the Ona of Abaji, the Offor of Umuofor and Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Secretary General of the NSCIA amongst other traditional and religious leaders
